Dr. Jaco earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Murray State University before graduating with awards from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He is an active member of the community, assisting in the public school mentoring program for young people who need positive role models. He supports the efforts of the Gideon International to distribute Bibles around the world. As a member of the Marshall County Health Department Board of Directors, he is civic-minded and well-read on public health. He is most accommodating and is dedicated to pets and pet owners.
Dr. Koym graduated from Texas A&M University Veterinary College in 1976. She has practiced veterinary medicine in Idaho, Texas, New Mexico, Florida, Virginia and Kentucky. Dr. Koym continues to enjoy veterinary medicine while working with Companion Animal Hospital. Her family includes retired Lt. Col. Ray Koym (husband), three daughters, three sons-in-law, three granddaughters, and four grandsons, with more anticipated in the future! Two dogs, two cats and a very spoiled 26-year-old mare complete the family. Dr. Koym enjoys meeting the “family” of patients while living in Marshall County. Dr. Koym considers herself to be wonderfully blessed by God to be able to be a part of Companion Animal Hospital’s dedicated, empathetic, and knowledgeable tradition of patient care in Marshall County.
Shanay is our Office Manager and has been with Companion Animal Hospital since June 2014. She and her husband have a wonderful daughter at home that they care for along with 3 dogs and 1 cat. When she’s not at work, Shanay enjoys being outside with her dogs, landscaping and working on her home projects. You might find her at the closest car show, or speedway because Shanay is a car fanatic! Fast cars, drag races, and speed is what she is all about! Shanay is a wonderful asset to our team and we are so thankful for her and everything she does for our team at Companion Animal Hospital.
Stephaine joined our team in June of 2018. She attended Marshall County High School and Murray State University. She has one dog, a cat and to many bees to count. When not working she spends her time outdoors hunting, fishing, bee keeping, and visiting National Parks/Forrest.
Sara Jo was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She moved to Western KY in October 2016. She has been working in animal clinics since she was 17 years old. Sara Jo manages our boarding facility here and oversees the well being of all the animals we have here in our care. While Sara is not at work, she is a full-time mom. She and her boyfriend care for 3 dogs, 2 horses, and 1 bunny. In her spare time, she loves to be with her family while enjoying the outdoors. You might find her on your local river kayaking, or on the trails with the horses.
Jon is a United States Navy Veteran and joined the team at Companion Animal Hospital in 2017 after graduating from the Veterinary Tech program at Murray State University. He was born in Paducah, KY and raised in Rutherford County, TN. He has 4 dogs and a small zoo at home. Outside of work you may find Jon sitting on a bank in the Mississippi river shark tooth hunting, Kayaking, or Gem mining with his wife.
Kara is a kennel assistant for our boarding kennels and she joined our team in December 2019. She is currently going to school at Murray state. While Kara is not at work she is working her horses or out enjoying some riding trails with friends. Kara is an enthusiastic person, and a great addition to our team.
Kelly is a United States Veteran and a licensed Veterinary Technician. She joined our team in July of 2019 and is such a great asset to our team. Kelly has 2 dogs and 3 cats at home that she cares for. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys the outdoors with her dogs! She loves hiking, kayaking, riding horses, and being in the company of good friends.
Ashley is from Louisville Kentucky and joined our team in September 2019. Ashley has loved animals from an early age and began volunteering at her local Humane Society until the age of 16, when she began her journey into Veterinary Medicine and landed her first job in a clinic. Ashley is a student at Murray State University and upon completing her undergraduate program this year, she plans to complete graduate school and the Veterinary school. She spends her free time practicing her Cello and taking her two fur children on fun adventures. Ashley's dream is to one day work for Companion Animal Hospital as Dr. Ashley Bennett.
Shayla joined our team in September of 2019. She has two dogs and one cat at home. Shayla's favorite thing to do when she is not working is watching her daughter play softball. Her and her husband are highschool sweethearts and have two wonderful children.
